Full-Time – Mechanic – Public Works

The successful candidate must possess a High School Diploma with a Technical College Diploma preferred supplemented by a minimum of two to three years of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Under general supervision, performs inspections, diagnoses and makes major and minor repairs on City owned heavy and light equipment and vehicles. Repairs industrial equipment including back hoes, brush chippers, dozers, dump trucks, loaders, excavators, hydraulic boom trucks, tractors and lawn equipment. Performs diagnosis, testing and repairs of all assigned equipment. Repairs and/or replaces electrical, hydraulics and air systems. Estimates costs of repairs and orders necessary parts. Performs a variety of skilled welding assignments. Operates acetylene and arc welding equipment. Reports to the Fleet Supervisor.
