Simpsonville police join operation to step up speed limit enforcement
Operation Southern Shield promotes safe driving
Simpsonville, S.C. — The Simpsonville Police Department is proud to participate in Operation Southern Shield, which focuses on speeding violations to ensure drivers are safely operating their motor vehicles.
Spearheaded by the S.C. Office of Highway Safety, Operation Southern Shield will take place July 19 – July 25. Police will step up enforcement of speed limits to help reduce crashes, deaths and injuries.
Simpsonville Police Chief Mike Hanshaw said Simpsonville police are participating in the operation to help make the roadways safer not just in Simpsonville but across the Southeast.
“Operation Southern Shield is a joint effort among multiple law enforcement agencies across five states to remind drivers that speeding is both a traffic violation and dangerous,” Hanshaw said. “If the Simpsonville Police Department does its job, then drivers who pass through the city will drive more safely as they travel to other cities, counties and states. It’s about teamwork, and that’s why Simpsonville police are participating in the operation.”
