Fire Prevention and Community Education
The Fire Marshal’s Office, which consist of three personnel (Fire Marshal and 2 Deputy Fire Marshals), is responsible for conducting fire and life safety inspections for the businesses located within the District. The purpose is to ensure that the buildings and tenants are conforming to the most recently adopted version of the International Fire Code (2021). Follow-up inspections are done to make sure violations have been corrected. All businesses that open within the District are required to be inspected prior to occupying the building.
The Fire Marshal’s Office also schedules and/or conducts fire safety, fire prevention, and educational activities in conjunction with shift personnel.
Simpsonville Fire Department has also partnered with Safe Kids Upstate to provide trained personnel to inspect and install child safety seats in vehicles. We currently offer 2 days per month for scheduled inspections. Times and sign ups can be found at the Safe Kids Upstate website. From the calendar choose Simpsonville Fire Department in the drop down on the top left. We also offer emergent service if you can call ahead 864-967-9545 to confirm we have trained personnel available to help.
