Committee of the Whole - June 23rd
Video of meeting available online
Simpsonville, S.C. — Simpsonville City Council held a regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday via an online meeting service in accordance with guidelines and recommendations from state and federal agencies.
The meeting was live streamed to the City of Simpsonville YouTube Page, where the video can be viewed. Council met via an online meeting service to help prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 in light of the recent increase in cases in the state and Greenville County.
Meeting via an online service enables Council to practice social distancing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control.
Two citizens submitted comments for the Citizen Comment portion of the meeting, which were played during the online meeting. Anyone who resides or owns a business inside city limits may submit a comment by leaving a voice message on Mayor Paul Shewmaker's office phone at 864-967-5400.
Messages must be no longer than three minutes, and callers must state their names and addresses at the beginning of the call and avoid any profane language as qualifying comments will be played over the live stream.
Council will next meet July 14 at 6:30 p.m. for a regularly scheduled business meeting. Council will continue to temporarily meet electronically as city officials assess conditions and determine appropriate actions and steps in response to the virus.
