Yard debris pickup schedule available
Color-coded map shows daily truck routes
Simpsonville, S.C. — The Simpsonville Public Works Department has released a schedule for collection of yard waste, including loose leaves.
The schedule is a color-coded map that indicates which parts of the city and on what days the trucks will pick up loose leaves and brush. A total of four collection zones divide the city limits into northeastern and southeastern sections east of Interstate-385 and northwestern and southwestern sections west of the interstate.
Blue corresponds to Monday; green to Tuesday; red to Wednesday and yellow to Thursday. See the PDF file Yard Debris Pickup Schedule below under Supporting Documents or visit the following link for a detailed map: Yard Debris Pickup Schedule (use the zoom tool for a closer look).
The new schedule will begin Monday, Nov. 9. Adjustments due to holidays will be announced.
Although the purpose of the schedule is to provide residents a timeline for prepping yard debris for pickup, Public Works Director Andy West cautioned that leaf pickup may sometimes fall behind schedule due to wet weather.
"Wet leaves cannot be collected because they may damage hoses and other equipment," West said. "We ask for residents' patience follow any rain or storms."
Leaf piles that contain grass clippings and limbs will not be picked up. Only brush that is 6-feet long or less and 6-inches round or less will be collected.
Residents who would like junk picked up may call 864-967-9531. Junk will be picked up citywide on Mondays.
Questions should be directed to the Public Works Department at 864-967-9531.
