Public Safety Checkpoints
Calendar Date:
The Simpsonville Police Department will be conducting public safety check points on Friday, Nov. 22nd on South Street at Fairview Point Drive from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 30th on West Georgia Road at Neely Ferry Road from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The purpose of the checkpoints is to inform motorists who may drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs that they may encounter a public safety checkpoint on any day, at any time and on any street inside the city limits. Officers will also check if motor vehicle operators are licensed drivers, have proof of insurance and that all drivers and passengers are PROPERLY wearing their seat belts and that every child is secured in the child safety seat that corresponds with their age and height.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requires that agencies provide adequate notice to the public about checkpoints. Police will be using road signage, cones and flashing blue lights at each checkpoint. Please obey traffic signs and police directions and as always drive safely.
