Keynote Speaker: Captain Curtis Straeter
CPT Curtis Straeter is a Chaplain Candidate in the 2-151 Aviation Battalion of the 59th Aviation Troop Command.
CPT Straeter graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL in 2010, where he earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree. He has been enrolled in the Masters of Divinity Program at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary since 2015, with targeted graduation in May of 2019.
CPT Straeter entered the Army as a Signal Officer on active duty in 2011. He transitioned from active duty to the South Carolina National Guard in July 2015 and subsequently commissioned as a Chaplain Candidate in April 2016.
His military education includes the Signal Officer Basic Course, Chaplain Officer Basic Course, Master Resiliency Training Program, Maintenance Leader Course, and Airborne School.
Prior to his present assignment, CPT Straeter served as the Chaplain Candidate for the 1050th Transportation Battalion and a Network Officer in the 2nd Signal BDE, South Carolina Army National Guard.
CPT Straeter has served as the Deputy Secretary of the General Staff for 5th Signal Command, Europe, Signal Support OIC for Headquarters ISAF, Afghanistan, Battle Captain in the Regional Cyber Center, Europe, and Executive Officer of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Europe.
Among his decorations are the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.
CPT Straeter is a full-time seminary student and also serves as a pastoral intern for Palmetto Hills Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church in America) in Simpsonville, SC. His responsibilities include youth ministry, teaching, preaching, counseling, and all church administration.
CPT Straeter and his wife Precious have been married for 7 years and currently reside in Mauldin, SC.
