Court gives instructions to defendants on postponed cases
New court dates will be mailed out
Simpsonville, S.C. — With court cases in Simpsonville Municipal Court postponed, the Court has provided directions for defendants with traffic tickets, warrants and bench trials.
Defendants who want to pay a fine for their traffic ticket or warrant or who have a bench trial and plan to plead not guilty should call the Court for instructions at 864-228-2009. Defendants who do not pay their fine or arrange for a bench trial will be notified by the Court of their new court date via mail sent to the address listed on their ticket or warrant.
Defendants are responsible for notifying the Court in writing by mail to 118 N.E. Main St., Simpsonville, S.C. 29681 of their new address if they have moved or changed address. Any defendants who do not appear on their new court date will be tried in their absence.
Simpsonville Municipal Court has postponed all court dates to comply with the order by Chief Justice Donald W. Beatty suspending all in-person proceedings in summary courts through South Carolina. Exceptions in the order for the suspension are bond hearings and emergency matters.
Read the news release on the order by the Chief Justice for more information: Court suspended by Chief Justice.
