Blood drive collects 32 units of 'life-saving' blood
The Blood Connection, City of Simpsonville partner to 'Save 60' lives
(Release: Jan. 9, 2023)
Simpsonville, S.C. — The City of Simpsonville, in partnership with The Blood Connection, successfully held the Simpsonville "Save 60" Blood Drive on Friday.
The drive aimed to collect 20 units of blood, which has the potential to save up to 60 lives, but thanks to the generosity of the community, a total of 32 units were donated. These donations will help to save the lives of even more people in need of blood transfusions.
Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell expressed his gratitude for the efforts of The Blood Connection and blood donors.
"The City of Simpsonville appreciates all blood donors who helped save lives with their donations," Campbell said. "The Blood Connection has a critical need, and Simpsonville is honored to partner in fulfilling that need."
Mayor Paul Shewmaker was one of the first in line to donate blood Friday morning.
"In Simpsonville, we help our neighbors, whether they live inside or outside the city limits, and donating blood is the perfect way to do that," Shewmaker said. "We look forward to our continued partnership with The Blood Connection in promoting the selfless and life-saving act of donating blood to those in need."
A blood drive by The Blood Connection is scheduled for Feb. 25 at the Simpsonville Activity & Senior Center. For more information on donating blood, visit thebloodconnection.org.
