The Unveiling
City to host unveiling of newly renovated arts center
Simpsonville, S.C. — After nearly two decades of planning for a hub of arts and culture in downtown, the City of Simpsonville is hosting the unveiling of the Simpsonville Arts Center on the evening of Feb. 15, and the public is invited.
The event, which starts at 7, will feature community theater group Mill Town Players, who will announce their lineup of the first shows to be produced in the revitalized building. Simpsonville Arts Foundation, Inc. will dedicate outside the Arts Center at 6:45 a sculpture originally commissioned by SAFI.
Slated to speak at the unveiling are Mayor Paul Shewmaker and Executive Artistic Director for Mill Town Players Will Ragland, who will reveal the first three shows of the season accompanied by short performances. Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said the night of the unveiling is the culmination of hard work, collaboration and and a little bit of hope.
"Breathing new life into this historic and beloved building in Simpsonville has been a goal for so many City officials and residents for so many years," Campbell said. "The unveiling of the Simpsonville Arts Center is a presentation to the public of an investment by the City into the community. We invite the public to enjoy the newest hub of arts and culture in the Upstate."
