City makes list of best places to live in the state
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Simpsonville makes list of best places to live in the state
Simpsonville, SC — The City of Simpsonville has made the list of the 10 Best Places to Live in South Carolina for 2018, a list compiled by regional infotainment site HomeSnacks.
Topping both the cities of Charleston and Clemson, Simpsonville placed No. 6 based on education, housing values and crime rates. Simpsonville has the 22nd lowest crime rates out of 60 places analyzed in the state by HomeSnacks, which used the latest census and FBI crime data to compile the list.
Niko Jamison notes there were only 70 violent crimes total in Simpsonville in 2017.
“We think it’s even safer here than the numbers indicate,” Jamison writes. “The schools are some of the best in South Carolina, and residents live in very expensive homes. They also earn more than most every other city in the state.”
The median household income for Simpsonville is $59,201, according to the U.S. Census Bureau — 25 percent more than the median household income for the entire state.
Simpsonville’s overall score in the rankings was 8/10. Mayor Janice Curtis said she is not surprised the City made the list and appreciates the recognition.
“Simpsonville is growing due to economic development, an emphasis on public safety and dedication to providing our students with a quality education,” Curtis said. “We are thankful to our small businesses, public safety officials and teachers for working hard to make Simpsonville a great place to live.”
