Storm Recovery: Important Info for City of Simpsonville
Follow up-to-date information about storm recovery and city operations in the City of Simpsonville
Below is important information or directions about city operations for the City of Simpsonville from various departments and any other relevant or helpful information. The information will be updated when possible.
A "Major Disaster Declaration" was approved for Greenville County for both individual and public assistance. Citizens can apply at www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.
Reporting Damage: As residents clean up, Greenville County Emergency Management encourages them to report damage through the SC Emergency Manager app, which can be found in the App Store or Google Play. This will help with damage assessment and requests for federal assistance.
211 Resource Line: 211 is a resource line supported by United Way of Greenville County for people in immediate need of community resources like food and shelter. United Way is encouraging members of the public to utilize 211 by simply calling 2-1-1 and stating their needs to the operator. United Way Worldwide is working to increase the normal capacity of 211 to accommodate those impacted by Tropical Storm Helene.
Resources: For citizens in Greenville County looking for information on resources, call 864-467-3428 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Call 911 for only emergencies. For immediate needs that are not emergencies, call 211.
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
- Public Works is focusing on brush and trash pickup.
- Brush that is no greater than 6 inches in diameter and no greater than 6 feet long is picked up by Public Works, per the solid waste management policy.
- Brush that is greater than 6 inches in diameter and no greater than 3 feet in length will be temporarily picked up to aid in storm recovery.
- Brush generated by contractors or businesses will not be picked up by Public Works. Residents are responsible for removal of brush generated by contractors or businesses.
- Junk and bulk items will NOT be picked up until further notice.
- Crews will be working extended hours to assist in the storm cleanup and getting the city back to normal.
CITY HALL
- City Hall is operating with power at normal operating hours as of Monday Sept. 30th.
- Regular services will continue to be provided.
COURT
- Jury trials and jury selection for the week of Sept. 30th were CANCELED. If you are needed by Simpsonville Municipal Court for future jury selection or trials, you will be contacted by the court via notice in the mail.
- All other regular court services (e.g. ticket payments) will continued to be provided.
PARKS & REC
- All facilities and grounds, including the Activity & Senior Center and parks, are open at normal operating hours. City Park remains closed for construction.
- All regular services are being provided.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
- Operate vehicles safely as trees remain down on some streets and roads.
- Be cautious around and avoid down power lines. With power coming back on in the city, some lines that appear without power may get power while still down. Stay away from down power lines.
- Treat non-working traffic lights as four-way stops.
