Statement on CCNB Amphitheatre & Noise Ordinance

The CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park is an exciting, successful, and unique venue that provides entertainment to the Upstate and beyond and contributes to the economic vibrancy of Simpsonville by attracting visitors who support our hotels, restaurants, and businesses. One of several spaces for community gathering in the City of Simpsonville, the CCNB Amphitheatre hosts a wide variety of free and ticketed events: the Fair at Heritage Park, Movies in the Park, Music Series & Food Truck Rodeo, Simply Freedom Fest, and a concert season boasting not only artists and bands from multiple genres but a couple of music festivals, too.

While valuing the widespread benefits of the CCNB Amphitheatre to the local and regional economy and quality of life for residents and visitors, the City of Simpsonville recognizes concerns about noise. The City and Simpsonville Police Department enforce a noise ordinance with conditions placed on time, context, and decibel level; there are no plans to amend the ordinance. Allowing for the same industry-standard conditions for sound, lighting, and other elements of performance as comparable venues ensures the CCNB Amphitheatre remains a competitive option that world-renown artists and bands from a wide variety of genres will continue choosing to play.

Given the number of events held at the CCNB Amphitheatre, the concert season of seven months averages about two shows a month. Most households in the city and adjacent to the Amphitheatre do not express concerns about noise, a fact that must be taken into consideration along with households who do express such concerns. Given the infrequency of concerts at the CCNB Amphitheatre and complaints about sound in relation to the population, the City of Simpsonville believes its noise ordinance is reasonable for the CCNB Amphitheatre, a one-of-a-kind outdoor venue in the state.

The CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park has served as a popular and successful venue not only in the Upstate but throughout the Southeastern U.S. for nearly two decades and will continue to do so for decades to come.
