Council approves rezoning ordinances, cell tower lease
Cell tower to improve cell service at Amphitheatre
Simpsonville, S.C. — Simpsonville City Council unanimously approved rezoning and annexation ordinances and a cell tower lease with Verizon at a business meeting Tuesday night.
Council voted 7-0 in favor of an Ordinance Z-2020-04 to rezone a property on Pride Drive from Business-Industrial to Business-General for an applicant who plans to build a counseling and behavioral intervention facility on the property. The Simpsonville Planning Commission approved the request for rezoning by a vote of 5-0 in June.
Council also voted 7-0 in favor of Ordinance AXZ-2019-02 to annex into the City and rezone property on Fairview Road behind the T.J. Maxx department store from residential-suburban to residential high density. The application plans to build an assisted living facility that will encompass a variety of caregiving needs.
The Planning Commission also unanimously approved the annexation and rezoning of the property.
To allow for better cell phone service near and in the CCNB Amphiteatre at Heritage Park, Council voted 7-0 to approve a lease agreement with Verizon for a cell tower.
The video of Tuesday night's Council meeting can be viewed on the City of Simpsonville YouTube Channel. Council next meets at a regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting Aug. 25th at 6:30 p.m. via an online meeting service.
