Military Heritage
“The Stars & Stripes of Simpsonville: Flags for Residents Program” is the newest means by which the City of Simpsonville is celebrating our community’s rich military heritage. Throughout the year, the flags at the Veterans Monument on Veterans Corner at Trade Street and other City properties are retired by the Parks & Recreation Department due to wear, at which point they are properly disposed of in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. Residents of the City of Simpsonville are welcome to request the following flags at any time via the short form below:
- US
- US Air Force
- US Army
- US Coast Guard
- US Marine Corps
- US Navy
- POW/MIA Flag
- and SC State
We look forward to your submission and learning about your family’s own military heritage!
Members of the public are welcome to drop off flags at the Veterans Monument in a box provided by Eagle Scout Jake DeStefano from Troop 775 of Boy Scouts of America for the purposes of proper disposal of flags according to The U.S. Flag Code. This drop box ensures that these symbols of our nation and their value are retired with the dignity they deserve. Join us in upholding the tradition of honoring our flags by utilizing this service for their respectful retirement.

While Veterans Day celebrates and honors all veterans of the U.S. military, Memorial Day honors the memory of those who died in service of their country. To remember our fallen heroes, the City of Simpsonville hosts its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on the first Monday of every May. The Memorial Day Ceremony will be returning to the Veterans Monument in 2025. The event often features remarks by a keynote speaker and the mayor and a presentation by Quilts of Valor. Join us to remember, honor, and celebrate those who gave their lives in the betterment of the United States of America.
Pay tribute to a veteran’s sacrifice by purchasing a personalized brick to be placed at Veterans’ Corner in the Simpsonville Veterans’ Monument. Each brick measures 4″ x 8″ and costs $100. Only veterans’ names can be engraved, ensuring their legacy is forever honored. To commemorate a veteran, complete the Veterans Honor Bricks Form and deliver it to Simpsonville City Hall.
